Prairie Bonnets

Often I have been asked to make this style of head covering for Westerns.  Typically this type of bonnet would have been worn by a North American woman or girl while working outside, doing things like laundry, or working in a farm field.  Although one often sees these Prairie Bonnets depicted now-a-days, they were not generally worn in public places.  Mostly they are meant to keep the sun off a lady’s face and neck, and the dust out of her hair.  These styles range over the whole of the Victorian era, and many are based on styles from even earlier times.
